Sparks' books (the first 2 and Rodanthe) and this was my least favorite, I think. I was more moved by J's bonding w/his new baby. I was quite engrossed in this novel until about 2/3 of the way through, when it seemed to turn into a primer for giving birth. I know I was suposed to cry when.SPOLIER ALERT.his wife passes away, but I didn't. Still, it's nice to see a man (Sparks) writing romance with such sensitivity and understanding, and I wish him the best success with future books. I was hoping Jeremy, who is a bit of a doormat, would find someone else, as Lexie didn't appeal all that much, what with her secretiveness and selfishness, expecting him to move to boring Boone Creek, NC, from his home in NYC. Once I got that straight, I ended up really enjoying this book. For some reason I thought that the Val Kilmer movie At First Sight was made after this book and because of that I had never really had an interest in picking it up. The ending was a disappointment, but the story leading up to it is definitely worth a read and why I still gave the book 4 stars. I'd go so far as to say that I loved the book right up until about the last ten pagess. As I was browsing at the library, however, it happened to be the only Nicholas Sparks book in and since I hadn't read it I figured that I may as well give it a try. As it turns out, the book has nothing to do with the movie at all -they are completely separate.
Good clean reading, which is hard to find these day's. Love all of Nicholas Sparks books, always look forward to a new one.
I loved the book and the shipping was lightning fast. The condition the book arrived was great.
None of us are. I read this book after reading True Believer- the first story about Jeremy Marsh and Lexie. He also showed us that we can be strong even in adversity, even if we don't start out thinking so.This is a wonderful story, and I will be looking at some of the other books Nicholas Sparks has written. We all have both strengths and weaknesses, as did the both of them and I think the author showed us that. I really enjoyed this story and the way the characters developed. To expect either of them to be perfect would require the reader to believe that there are "perfect people" in this world.
